IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization advancing technology for humanity, today announced details of its IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) IoT Startup Soiree during the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (2015 International CES). A premier consumer technology event, the 2015 International CES is January 6 – 9, 2015, in Las Vegas. Targeted at nascent Internet of Things (IoT) companies and organizations, IEEE-SA’s integrated IoT Startup Soiree will be from 10am – 12pm PST, January 8, 2015, in room S228 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The IEEE-SA IoT Startup Soiree aims to serve as a catalyst for the continued expansion and growth of the Internet of Things ecosystem. A multifaceted event, the Soiree includes a presentation highlighting IEEE-SA’s critical role in fostering IoT technology innovation and facilitating market acceleration; an open house for IEEE P2413™, the “IEEE Standard for an Architectural Framework for the Internet of Things (IoT)”; and a “Hot Seat” session allowing startup companies to introduce themselves to potential partners and investors. The IEEE-SA IoT Startup Soiree is open to all registered 2015 International CES attendees.
“Much of the growing momentum sweeping across the IoT landscape is being led by today’s vibrant startup community. These pioneering individuals and companies are uncovering new business models and go-to-market approaches embracing the visionary nature of the IoT and the convergence of OT and IT,” said Oleg Logvinov, chair, IEEE P2413 Working Group (WG); and director, special assignments, Industrial and Power Conversion Division, STMicroelectronics. “IEEE’s broad portfolio of technology resources combined with its consensus-building abilities makes it the epicenter of the IoT innovations of today, tomorrow, and beyond.”
Mr. Logvinov will open the IEEE-SA IoT Startup Soiree with a short welcome address beginning at 10am PST. Following his remarks, there will be a brief presentation outlining IEEE-SA’s ongoing IoT efforts, including how current and proposed IoT standards are spurring innovation; shortening development cycles; accelerating time-to-market; and reducing costs.
The IEEE P2413 open house will provide an introduction to IEEE-SA’s robust IoT architectural framework currently in development. IEEE P2413 WG panelists, including representatives from leading industry organizations will share an overview of the group’s efforts, and address how a standardized architecture can help accelerate IoT technology and application development.
The IEEE-SA Hot Seat session offers select startups the opportunity to deliver a short pitch to a diverse group of industry, investor, analyst, and media panelists, who in turn will provide feedback, advice, and recommendations.
The IEEE-SA is a leading consensus building organization that nurtures, develops and advances global technologies. Our standards drive the functionality, capabilities and interoperability of a wide range of products and services that transform the way people live, work and communicate.
